HAWKS PALACE
The process of entering the palace is... smooth. Painless.
You are falling, but it's not scary at the speed you're going. You drop through the pre-dawn sky like a feather, light and easy on a breeze, descending towards a bright and multicolored island in a sea of dark trees.

They are VERY cute and spin at a very tolerable speed, though she can speed it up if she wants. There's something red stuck to one of the seats.

You're very young. Maybe five or six. You're sitting at a table in a dimly lit underground room, and on that table is a puzzle. Your hands are in oven mitts; you're not uncomfortable, but you can't use them for anything delicate right now.
Two people in suits are monitoring this test - it's not easy for you to exercise this level of delicate control, but with some effort you can put this puzzle together using only the feathers off your wings, which you control with your mind.
Your time is noted and recorded. Neither seems especially impressed.
You ask if you can try again.

[starting to feel a little unimpressed with these sponsors. mom senses: unhappy. mildly displeased.
tucks the feather safely into her sleeve and scans the crowd for him in more earnest, though she knows he likely won't be just wandering around here. she is going to reference her map for any of the ink-splotched locations to see if she can head to the closest one, just to see if anything is there]

before she goes to the staff area she's gonna do one more easy ride: the Ferris wheel! it will also give her a nice vantage from which to see the whole place from above, which could be helpful]

The memory attached to it is a little disorienting though --
You are blind. This is not unusual nor alarming; this is part of your training. Humans rely on sight more than any other sense, and whenever they're given the opportunity they'll favor it.
So this month you're just blindfolded to learn how to navigate through sounds that you hear through your feathers. There's a lot of shin banging and step missing and general irritation, but it's not that difficult.
The view from the top of the Ferris wheel is the whole park - where areas were blocked out on the map, they seem hazy or foggy from the air.
