We don't consider 'magic' to be a thing that exists at all, back home, yeah. It's seen as sort of a cop-out answer to questions.

How strange.... That's hard for me to imagine. Not everyone is capable of magic back home, but everyone is aware of it and knows that, in our world, it's real.

A lot of quirks would be called magic in other worlds, I think. But because it was a pretty recent and quick evolution, historically speaking, I can see why we don't.

It's that recent?

The first official quirk was recorded a little over two hundred years ago.

Ah....that's really recent then.

Yeah! I'm part of the like... I wanna say fourth? Fourth generation of quirk users. And even within each person's quirks, there's ways for them to grow and change as well. Like it's commonly observed that if someone is facing severe threats they might just spontaneously develop new ways to use their quirks.

Though I don't think mine's gonna change that much in retirement obviously.

In what ways did yours change?

Well, I got the ability to manually control my feathers exactly when I needed them to save people from a traffic accident.

And you were able to execute it perfectly once it evolved? Or was there a learning period?

I definitely had a learning period. When I first developed my quirk it was just that I had wings that sometimes responded to vibrations in the air.

So...they acted automatically at first? Or rather...instinctually?

Yeah, at first it was all instinct. Then I could move them all at once in the same direction. Being able to control them all simultaneously took a long time and probably shouldn't be like. Possible.

That's pretty much how it goes with quirks every time. How'd yours happen?

I was being bullied... They took something from me...so I wanted desperately to take something from them. And I wound up taking something precious and irreplaceable. The ability they were so proud of, their singing voice.
