HAWKS PALACE

The process of entering the palace is... smooth. Painless.

You are falling, but it's not scary at the speed you're going. You drop through the pre-dawn sky like a feather, light and easy on a breeze, descending towards a bright and multicolored island in a sea of dark trees.

When you land, you are somewhere new.

Hawks isn't deeply asleep enough to sleep through someone coming to sit near him, so after a couple of moments he blinks awake.

"Wh... oh? Uh-- oh. Hi. I wasn't, uh- expecting guests?"

We brought snacks.

... I like snacks.

[Turning towardds the baby Hawks]

Do you want to show him what you picked out?

"Yeah!!"

Baby Hawks excitedly starts laying out a BUFFET of FRIED SUGAR. It's great.

What else did you bring for him?

"Aaand... this! To trade!"

He offers the BRAND NEW SQUISHY COMFORTABLE ENDEAVOR. Adult Hawks makes kind of an unreadable expression but trades it willingly, giving his lil baby self a pat on the head.

"So, you two were busy, huh..."

Very. Did you have a good nap?

"Not as good as I hoped for, if I'm honest. This place is as uncomfortable as I remember. --No offense, kiddo."

"It's fine..."

[Handing back the feathers from his pockets before laying down right there on the floor]

Haaa....

"Was the place a mess? If I knew I was getting visitors I'd have gotten something ready..."

[Shakes his head, shifting a bit to find a more comfortable spot]

It wasn't a mess. Though I'm starting to suspect I need to adjust my earlier demands. Ten percent more selfish isn't enough. You're going to need to be at least fifty percent more selfish. Minimum.

"Fifty! That's so much!"

Minimum.

"I'm not sure I know how?"

We'll work on that. Luckily for you....I'm an expert in greed. There will be consultation fees, of course, but we can work out the payment details later.

"My own personal selfishness coach... I'm living the luxury life now.

Uh... by the way, you didn't see anything too weird, did you?"

There was a washing machin man.

"That's just Wash. Kids love him."

Kid? Do you love him?

"I like Endeavor."

I rest my case.

"Kids who aren't me love Wash."

Name one.

[Reaching out for a snack]

"I don't know the name of every child! The demographics don't lie though."

He also eats a french fry. Nom.
