I think...most people want to be 'in love'. It's actually loving something they're not very good at. When things are shiny and new and not fully theirs yet...but given time, they'll start to look for something else. To chase the feeling of being "in love" even if they already have something they "love".
I've taken very many precious things that people loved at one point. Given up for something new or fleeting. I don't think they're too cool to be in love, I think they're too stupid to appreciate anything truly precious. Something like that.
