Okay in this one Hawks is like five or six, and he's living in an absolute shitheap of a place. There's trash and empty cans and bottles everywhere, the windows are boarded up, and nobody has ever cleaned in their life. Hawks is sleeping, curled up around a stuffed doll, on what looks like one single shitty, dirty blanket wadded up into kind of a little nest.
Then he wakes up because rain falls on his head. He looks up and there seems to be a hole in the roof. He tries to ignore it for a little bit, tries to move his little nest out of the way, but it seems like it's pretty cold and wet so after a few attempts, he hugs the doll, hides it under his blanket, and goes outside. He passes a woman who's watching TV on his way out. A pair of eyeballs are floating around her head, but neither turns to look at him.
Despite the lack of adult supervision, Hawks climbs up onto the roof (in the rain) to fix the tarp so it's properly covering the huge hole in their roof. It's evident from his view on top of this shitty little house that they live way far away from everyone. After just barely managing to fix the tarp (he moves a rock on top of the corner that slipped out), he suddenly looks up and over into the darkness, where there's a single light (a flashlight?).
In his haste to get down, he slips and falls off the roof, but he catches himself with his wings and only gets a LITTLE banged up. He scurries back to his little nest and pretends to be asleep.
